Murad Skin Care Review
Murad Skin Care Review

I recently started using Murad’s products. Due to the constant travel between India and Canada in the last two years, the extremely opposite weather of both countries took its toll on my skin. I would be honest with me if I say I was being pretty reckless and was not caring for my skin as I should have been. And the result was dark spots, fine lines, acne and really dull-looking skin by the time I touch big 30 this year.

Being an Indian, I was always a big supporter of homemade remedies when it comes to my skin (Nothing can beat your Mother’s beauty tips who in turn learnt from her own mother), but the busy schedule I am having does not leave me with much time. So I opted for a visit to Sephora, where the staff suggested Murad’s product after checking my skin.

To be honest, I never used any of Murad’s product before and was quite surprised when I talked about it in my Instagram stories and many of you were already using them and give such a positive response. I used it for almost 1.5 months and I can say it’s as good as they talk about it. It takes time to show the result but it worked.

My skin is a combination of oily and normal, the T-point (Nose and chin) is extremely oily while the rest of the face is quite normal not too dry not too oily. I won’t count my skin under sensitive one as it is not until I am suffering from some sort of allergy but I do have huge pores that can make my skin look rough and dry while oily at the same time.

Bit about Murad

Named after its founder, the brand was launched by the board-certified dermatologist, a trained pharmacist and an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at the Geffen School of Medicine, UCLA Dr Howard Murad in 1990. Dr Murad authored multiple books such as “The Water Secret,” the “Cellulite Solution,” and “Wrinkle Free Forever.”

His manifesto was simple “skincare is healthcare.” His vision was to bring skincare professionals of all stripes together to work as a team, using scientifically proven formulas and technologies, to help people achieve the healthiest, most beautiful skin possible. The Dermview has a great history and behind the scene information about Dr Murad and his work.

I tried looking for customer reviews and they were actually very good. I should have known as many of you were already rooting for it in my Instagram story.

Where to Buy Murad’s Product

Products are available online at its official website murad.com, Derm Store, Beauty Brands and of course Sephora.

What Products I am Using

As I mentioned the products I got after the staff at Sephora looked at my skin, so they suggested a Kit that had three products in it:

Essential-C Cleanser

It is a patent antioxidant-rich cleanser using Vitamins A, C and E neutralize. The gel-based cleanser rehydrate environmentally damaged skin by removing impurities and awakening the senses with a burst of citrus. The ingredients involve Phospholipids and Sodium PCA that attract and bind moisture to dry skin. Vitamins A, C and E to defend skin from free radical damage. Allantoin and Panthenol that soothe environmentally stressed skin. It left my skin soft and soothing. Pretty lightweight and glides of your skin easily. Its gel so does not rip the natural oil from the skin. Its fragrance is another plus. I would say it was exactly what I was looking for after the way India’s extreme summer and Canada’s harsh winter treated my skin. That said it might be on the non-budget friendly end as it costs a bit more than the regular cleansers. $39 might be bit much when it comes grabbing a face cleanser. Also comes in a travel size packing for $12.

Rapid Age Spot Correcting Serum

The lightweight serum visibly and quickly minimizes dark spots. Clinically proven to even skin tone and reduce the appearance of dark spots, age spots and hyperpigmentation. On record, it claims to lighten the spots in 6 weeks and I can second that as I saw the result on my skin that it has pretty much evened out. It has a Niacinamide complex that enhances cell turnover to visibly reduce the appearance of dark spots while targeting key signs of ageing and revitalizing skin’s natural tone. Vitamin C, oligopeptides and subtle light-reflecting pearls that enhance skin’s radiance and help brighten tone instantly and over time. Regular use is key. I use it in the morning only. The only downside again is the cost. It comes in two packings costing $76 and $25.

Essential-C Day Moisture Broad Spectrum SPF 30 | PA+++

The third element in the kit was the SPF 30 Essential-C Day Moisture. I would say it is a great product for the day. It is hydrating and lightweight and does not leave the skin oily or sticky. Skin absorbs the moisture pretty easily. It’s a Vitamin C based product with potent antioxidant ginkgo Biloba leaf extract that helps shield skin from sun and pollution. I never had to apply it twice and I have a routine that can go up to 9 hours daily.  It costs $65 and also comes in travel packing that costs $19.

My Words

I really liked the products. They are lightweight, the skin absorbs them easily and smells really good. The final outcome was a soft, hydrated and even skin. Fine lines and dark spots are not overly visible. Worked pretty well for my skin and as per the reviews and the Sephora staff, it’s great for sensitive skin too. Price could be an issue but if you can afford it then go for it. Or you can go for a travel kit that has all three products (I started with it and recently ordered the products again but separately this time as the kit had small packing) and costs $34 for all three products.
